Using this moving checklist tool will help make the move easier on you and your family.
Here’s a list of people, businesses & organizations that will need to know you’ve moved to a new location. Changing addresses is easy when you know who needs your updated info!
THE ESSENTIALS:
o Request a “Change of Address” form at a USPS post office
o Friends and family
FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS:
o Banks and credit unions
o Credit card companies (including department store cards)
o Lenders (mortgage, home equity, auto, student loan)
o Insurance companies (health, renters, auto, home, medical, dental, disability, life)
o Retirement (pension plans, 401K, retirement accounts, social security, Veterans Affairs)
o Investments (investment agencies and brokers)
UTILITIES:
o Phone services (cellular, land line)
o Electric
o Heating Oils (gas, oil, propane or other fuels)
o Water (water delivery, water treatment)
o Sewer
o Waste Disposal
o Internet (land line, wi-fi and satellite)
o Television (cable or satellite TV)
GOVERNMENT OFFICES:
o Department of Motor Vehicles
o IRS
o Passport Office
o Veteran Affairs
o Unemployment Office (if you are currently receiving unemployment benefits)
JOBS:
o Notify the Human Resources department
o Update your personal marketing materials (business cards, websites, resumes)
o Employment agencies (temp agencies and recruiters)
o Professional Memberships (licensing and certification boards)
o Recent past employers (for W-2)
HEALTHCARE:
o Physicians (doctors, dentists, optometrists, etc.)
